2017 Porsche Panamera and Panamera 4 on sale in Australia: New entry option hits local range

The 2017 Porsche Panamera range has been bolstered by the addition of two new variants, the V6-powered Panamera and Panamera 4, providing a new entry point into the range.

Joining the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, 4S, 4S Diesel and Turbo models, the new rear-wheel drive Panamera brings the entry point to $210,000 plus on-road costs, while the all-wheel-driven Panamera 4 starts from $220,400. Australian deliveries will begin late in the first quarter of 2017.

Powering both models is the 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 from the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid – though without the electric motor – producing 243kW of power and 450Nm of torque.

Claimed fuel consumption is rated at 7.6L/100km combined for the rear-wheel drive Panamera and 7.8L/100km for the all-wheel drive Panamera 4.

The company is yet to detail performance figures for the new models, though it has confirmed initial specifications for Australia-bound models.

Standard on both variants are adaptive cruise control, adaptive air suspension, four-zone climate control, LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels, Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system with voice control and Connect Plus (includes Apple CarPlay), digital radio, 14-way electrically-adjustable front seats with memory, panoramic roof, front and rear parking sensors, along with a surround camera system.

At the Los Angeles motor show later this month, Porsche will also reveal ‘Executive’ versions of the Panamera, which feature a 150mm longer wheelbase for those who prefer to be driven rather than drive themselves.

The stretched Panameras will not be offered in Australia, rather in “select markets” – likely to include China and the US.

All Australian Porsche Panamera variants are available to order now, with first deliveries commencing from late Q1 of 2017, though the Panamera and Panamera 4 won’t arrive until Q2 and Q3 of 2017 respectively.
