EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard Review

Most people think that recovering files from lost, damaged or formatted hard drives is extremely difficult. However, there are a few easy solutions to recovering these files. The solution we’re testing out today is the EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard software, available on both Windows and Mac computers.

EaseUS is one of the leading software companies when it comes to data backups, file recovery software and data management. With over 100 million users worldwide, and a selection of incredibly useful tools for fixing data-related issues, it’s not surprising that 99% of users rate their software with 5 stars.

Today we’re checking out the Data Recovery Wizard software, which EaseUS claim is “The best free data recovery software to recover deleted, formatted or lost data from PC, laptop or removable device easily and quickly” – so let’s take a closer look.

Upon installing the software you’re shown a small popup listing the available features for the free version, which allows for file and data recovery up to 2GB. If you wish to do so, you can upgrade to one of the paid versions. The paid versions of the software allow for unlimited file recovery, and also free upgrades.

The software itself isn’t overly complicated like certain software I’ve used in the past. There aren’t any options to set, apart from which file types you’d like to scan for. Once you’ve set the file types you’d like to scan your chosen drives for you’ll be greeted with the “main screen”.

It’s here that you’ll select the drive you’d like to recover any data from. For the purpose of this review I’ll be using a 1GB USB memory stick.

Upon selecting your chosen drive, and clicking “Scan”, the software will perform its most basic scan to attempt to find any deleted or damaged files. If the software does not discover any files you can choose the “Deep Scan” option to perform a much more in-depth scan, which should then yield some results.

To make viewing the recovered files a little easier, EaseUS have included the ability to view the files based on “Type” and “Date Created”.

Recovering the files is extremely simple, in fact all you need to do is tick the corresponding box next to the folder or individual file, select “Recover” and choose a destination to save the recovered files to. It couldn’t be any easier.

As well as performing this test on my 1GB USB drive, I also tested this on my Mac’s internal Hard Drive and also on a spare USB drive. Both of these extra tests resulted in the software discovering old deleted files, which I was very impressed by.

The speed at which the files were discovered differed between the different storage volumes, but all scans were completed fairly quickly. The time taken to scan your device will obviously depend on how large the capacity is, and also how many files will be discovered.

All in all, I’m extremely impressed with how easy the Data Recovery Wizard software from EaseUS was to use. The software doesn’t require any setting up prior to use, and all of the tests I performed were completed both quickly and without any issues whatsoever.

The software is available as a free data recovery software solution, or you can purchase a licensed version which only costs $69.95 (usually $89.95).
