Kicking off next week, WRC Rally Australia 2016 is one of the most anticipated motorsport events of the calendar year. And if you’ve never been, here are five good reasons to go.

After claiming a total of 12 consecutive world championship titles – for driver, co-driver, and manufacturer – over an incredibly successful four years back in the World Rally Championship (WRC), next week’s WRC Rally Australia 2016 is not only the final round for year, it’s Volkswagen‘s last, following a shock announcement earlier this month that it is exiting the sport from the end of this season.

Given the above, this means that this year will be your last opportunity to watch four-time world champion Sebastien Ogier in action in the Volkswagen Polo R WRC car – something not to be missed.

The 25th Rally Australia event, this year the rally returns to the Coffs Coast in Northern New South Wales, with competitors covering 312.98 competitive kilometres over 23 stages set to the north and south of Coffs Harbour.

Since moving to the Coffs Coast in 2011, Rally Australia has been highlighted by the epic 50.80km Nambucca Special Stage and the final day’s 6.44km Wedding Bells stage.

This year too, a new 1.27km Super Special Stage located near the ‘Jetty Strip’ precinct, alongside the Coffs Harbour waterfront, will make up some of the 1040.51km of total distance drivers will cover over the three days of competition.
