2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia QV in hot demand ahead of February launch: Initial Australian details released

If new details from the Australian arm of Fiat Chrysler are to be believed, the 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio is already proving popular with local buyers, months before its February launch.

Pricing for the Italian company’s M3-fighter hasn’t been revealed yet, but, according FCA Australia, that hasn’t stopped more than 100 locals placing orders for the fastest sedan to lap the famed Nurburgring circuit.

Under the bonnet is a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 developed by Ferrari, producing 375kW of power and 600Nm of torque.

Drive is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission, with 0-100km/h taking just 3.9 seconds, en route to a top whack of 305km/h.

First details of Australian specifications have also been detailed this week, with the top-shelf Giulia coming here equipped with 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive bi-xenon headlamps with automatic high-beam, forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking (AEB) and pedestrian detection, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control.

Other highlights include leather throughout the cabin with contrasting stitching, aluminium and carbon-fibre trims, 14-speaker Harmon/Kardon sound system, along with an 8.8-inch infotainment system with satellite navigation.

The Giulia QV will make its Australian debut at the Alfa Romeo Portsea Polo on 14 January 2017, before arriving in showrooms in February.
